nbigmaury
On my '89, the screen has been showing "low A/C fluid" and the compressor appears to be permanently de-clutched, as the screen says. The A/C fluid has been checked and it's up to correct level and pressure.Any ideas as to what's causing this "gremlin"?P. S. I'm also getting occasional screens showing "low engine oil level" and it ain't so.Thanx.Bill RosenBlack '89 coupeSeattle
Guest Mc_Reatta
AC problem might be the pressure switch or the low side temp sensor. If you read the BCM trouble codes and look at BCM Input BI08 and you can figure out which. On a 90 you need to disconnect battery for a short while to reset the code for very low refrigerant in order to get the compressor to run again. Guest Mc_Reatta
[quote=P. S. nbigmaury
Thanks, guys. My mechanic replaced a DE 88999178 control module (a $300 item) and so far it's blowing cold. Something you might have anticipated? Thanks again.Bill R.Seattle
Guest Mc_Reatta
Thanks, guys. My mechanic replaced a DE 88999178 control module (a $300 item) and so far it's blowing cold. Something you might have anticipated? Not likely since that's the part number for the ECM in a 91 Reatta. Won't work in the 89 you said you have. Also while it could prevent the AC compressor from running, it would have nothing to do with the low refrigerant warning you got. Hope you have a lot of faith in your mechanic. Did you get the old part that he replaced? If not you should ask to see it.Although it can keep the compressor from engaging, the ECM would not have been the part I would have expected to cause your problem.I don't want to second guess your mechanic but it's possible your AC problem was fixed when he disconnected the cable to battery and reconnected it.Happy Motoring!
