Guest K_lo
how do I keep it that way? Lubrication? what do I lubricate? Anything else? Also, there doesn't seem to be a "stop" to the motor. When I open and close it the motor will run until I take my finger off, even when it's fully open or closed. Is that normal? thanks.
Barney Eaton
Open the sunroof and note the slides and pivots. All these should be clean and lubricated. The main failure is the cable that go from the sunroof mechanism to the motor, you should be able to see these as they will be exposed when the roof is open. Note that they go into a guide tube and you should lube the cable and tube opening. After cleaning and lubricating. Open and close the panel a couple of times and inspect the guides and cable again......... if they have become dirty, then you need to clean and lube again. In each corner of the pan, there is a drain. This drains the water that gets past the sunroof seal and if they get plugged, water will leak into the car. Use a stiff wire and vacumn to clean the corners and verify the drains are clear. You can even flush them with water after cleaning to verify they are draining properly.

I wasn't looking forward to doing that just to lube the sunroof.

Seems like you could break something or burn the motor out.
