Guest Corvanti
in reading the muffler thread's new posts recently got me thinking about what was on mine. i'm sure it's not the original but looks correct- 1 in and 2 out - and is approx 22 1/4" long.but - i found the intake side of the muffler's exhaust hanger broken and the pipe/fitting/bolt hanging down about 1 1/2 inches. didn't think of taking a pic until i took it off: i checked on "gm parts direct" site, and n/a. the "stamped" on the part # is: 25526239. checked a couple of "flaps" sites and found nothing close to the correct size.i'm not that worried about it. i can do a temporary "fix" on the rubber and reinstall. was wondering what others have used to replace the part.and, again, a thank you to all that post here. without the thread, i wouldn't have checked. (it was fine last week)...
Barney Eaton
First try auto parts stores...... take the part with you. GM has been using this mount for some time and they vary by the distance between the mounting holes....... there are more than one size. If the auto parts store fails, GM will have them. Guest Mc_Reatta
I found them at my FLAPS only because the counter man recognized it as looking like one he had gotten for his Mom's old La Sabre a while back. The numbers listed for a Reatta and Riviera were nowhere close to what we have.Try asking to see one for a mid to late 80s La Saber and see if it doesn't match up as Barney suggested. Guest Corvanti
was able to "repair" it last night, at least temporarily with some silicone cured for a day and some wire around the outside to let it "cure" some more. i also flipped it - the broken part was on the bottom where it moves a bit more than the top.i took it for a test drive to a local store with no problems when i returned to the "cave"... i proceeded to pop a "cold one" upon success! since i had to sell my other car to pay some more doctor and other bills, this is my driver for awhile. i'll start looking for a replacement part tomorrow... first stop with be Ronnie's site! NCReatta
Kerry, I'm sure I have a couple good ones laying around here somewhere if you want to replace it. Are you heading up this way any time soon?
Guest Corvanti
I'd love to get up that way to visit my daughter before she starts back to school next month ay UNC-CH, but not sure i'm quite up to it, or the reatta... most of my energy has been used working on the car. gotta feeling she'll have to make a "beach run" before school starts. i'll let you know if i do! NCReatta
Ok, well if you do, let me know! We'll meet up for lunch. Probably not in Chapel Hill though. They're all a bunch of healthy-eating crazies who don't know how to drive! You can't even find a good burger out there!
