Guest
I often hear there is no such thing as a dumb question so here goes--
I just inhereted a '67 Skylark convertible.
340 w/4bbl.
Is the carb a Holley?
Were all 340's in '67 Holley's?
Looking at the carb, I couldn't see anything
that said Holley.
Should I expect to find trouble locating a
proper rebuild kit?
How many CFM. It's original.
Thanks for any info.
james.bremner@dm.af.mil
Guest my3buicks
Hi James, A quick post as I am running out the door. The carb used in 340/4's in 67 Buicks was a Carter AFB, kits to rebuild are readily available.
------------------
Keith Bleakney BCA# 11475
1967 Technical Advisor
1 - 1967 (3517) & 1 - 1953 (56R)
Guest
No Holleys from the factory, Rochester or Carter only from the factory.
Gene Brink
James,
Inherited is good (free!!). Don't know where you are but in So. California there are plenty of old cars still in daily use so getting an overhaul kit is easy at any good parts jobber. Either carb (Carter or Rochester) are pretty easy to overhaul so have at it.
Enjoy the drive, Gene
Guest
I use my 71 daily here in SoCal. You see quite a few older cars here, unfortunatly for us Buick fans, most are Chevy and Ford. I mean is it me, or do you see at least 2 old mustangs a day. <g>
Lately I've seen Nova's also. There's always the crop of Chevelles. Always end up telling people, no it's not a Chevelle, it's a Buick. Others just compliment it. Both of which is nice as it tells me, "Hey I'm noticed" about my Buick.
The BEST place to get parts here in SoCal is NAPA. I've tried them all. Kragen, PepBoys, Autozone, etc.. Napa always wins. AutoZone is second, then pepboys, with kragen as last.
If you want AC Delco parts, and don't tell 'em who sentcha there's Kay's Automotive on Calvert in Van Nuys. Wholesale ACDelco parts.. Then if you have any money left when you leave, head down Vesper to Tommy's :-)
Just always walk into places knowing what you want, bring the old one with you if you can. They're nicer & you never get the wrong one. That goes with anyplace tho.
Enjoy the newfound torque monster, and the current weather.
Scott
(also, yard wise, it's worth the trip to Anahiem every now and then to goto the Pick your Parts there, they usually have more buicks layin around then the sun valley location. if only traffic wansn't to bad.)
