Marquette

I have been offered a Buick/Marquette and since I do not have any experience with them I thought I'd just ask here.

What should one pay attention to when buying these models? Anything in particular?

And I was wondering about the spare parts supply, can anyone comment on that?

It is a 1930 Model Roadster.

@Mark Shaw: Thank you for the link, it is quite informative.

Sadly it does not answer my question about the availability of spare parts. Are there any parts being reproduced or are they all used parts? Are there any specialized sellers for spare sparts fitting the Buicks/Marquettes/Oldsmobiles of that time?

gebo,

The Marquette shares the same chassis as the early 1931 50 series Buicks. I have a 31-57 with the enclosed driveline made in the latter half of 1931, but I am told the first half of that year had the open driveline design & was the same as the Marquette. The engine would be essentially the same Olds engine except for the unique Marquette name on the side plates etc. The radiator cowl, grille, and other sheet metal would also be unique to Marquette. These are very nice and rather rare automobiles that many prewar Buick enthusiasts would love to own...especially a roadster...

Mark is correct. Most Marquettes, I would hazard to say 75-85% - were closed vehicles. If I understand "Roadster" to mean 2 door convertible, then you have one of 2 highly desirable body styles for collecting. And one most of us would purchase.

It won't be without difficulty to restore or get parts for but is possible. If you believe the price is fair compared to other 1930 American 2 door roadsters with straight 6 flathead engines, then I would buy it. And, we love photos so please add if you can.

Looking at the attachment provided by Mark, midway down is the Roadster in light tan with Sienna (Orange) wheels. Wow that's nice. If all Marquettes were built on the 112 " wheelbase then the Roadster and 2 door Coupe would wear that wheelbase best as the length would be in the right proportion.

112" is a little short for a four door sedan.
