Guest MidTNDawg
Anyone familiar with Auto Lift brand car lifts? I am wanting to get a lift and it appears they have a model which will do the job for less than $2000. Or any other suggestions?
Guest Fast Four Special
I have a Dannmar and am really please with it. All I can say is that any lift is better than none. After thinking about it for years, I finally bit the bullet and bought one this Winter. Best thing I have ever done in my 35+ years playing with cars. How did I live without one?Make sure you think hard about how you will use it and the limitations of the space it will be in. Make sure it is rated high enough to handle the biggest/heaviest car you own (or your buddies who will become your new best friends). Will it be primarily for storage or maintenance/repair? What is your ceiling height? Is your garage deep enough to accomodate the overhang of the car. The only mistake I made is that the walk under height. My lift goes to 6' but I am 6'2" and have scars on my head to prove it I must say it is still a bit uncomfortable looking at my '33 Chrysler CO-6 convertible sitting under my 3700# '56 Plymouth Fury. It takes some getting used to, and the reason I didn't buy a cheap Chinese lift. Think about that before you buy.Cheers! Guest MidTNDawg
Thanks for the info. Actually Dannmar is an option. I am blessed with an excellent space for a lift. Practically speaking, no limits to length or width and a 14 foot seiling. I am 5'9" and the mimimum clearance is 5'10" or so they claim. Not sure of which country makes the Auto Lift but will check. Cannot really afford to get a lift for my biggest vehicle which is a F 350, crew cab with 8 foot bed. A lift will have to handle 20' of wheel base and that size begins to cost real money LOL. Both lifts I am looking at are rated at 8000 lbs.
Guest MidTNDawg
I took this to the AACA General Discussion and got some excellent input.
