Alert! - Wrong oil pressure sensor ordered!

To whom it may concern,

My records indicate that yesterday someone ordered an ACDelco 213-928 Engine Oil Pressure Sensor from Amazon.com. It is NOT the oil pressure sensor I list in The Reatta Store for the Buick Reatta.

Even though Amazon indicates that it will fit the Reatta engine, the ACDelco 213-928 is the wrong oil pressure sensor for the Buick Reatta. I highly advise that you cancel the order and then order the correct sensor listed in The Reatta Store.

You have to be very careful when ordering parts from Amazon. Our 2012 Cadillac SRX takes a ACDelco PF 63 oil filter BUT Amazon says it is not correct. Always double and triple check before you order anything on line from Amazon. I have also found errors on RockAuto for our 2001 DTS.

BEWARE

You are correct. You cannot always rely on Amazon's recommendations for the correct fit to be accurate. That is why I recommend sticking with the parts I have selected in The Reatta Store to be assured you are getting the correct part at a good price from Amazon.

I have hand selected each part in The Reatta Store for a good balance of quality, price and the best fit. I cross reference each part I add to The Reatta Store with the other major parts suppliers, like Rockauto, Advance and NAPA, to be sure they all agree that the part I select is the correct part that fits the Reatta. And that it is at or below the price of the competitors.

If you order a part for your Reatta that I have listed in The Reatta Store, I can't guarantee that Amazon will ship you the right part. I have no control over that. I can promise you that the parts that I have listed in The Reatta Store have been carefully selected to insure that you are getting a quality part that fits your Reatta at a good price. The parts I have listed in The Reatta Store are the parts I would order for my Reatta.

I apologize for this ending up sounding like a commercial. I just wanted everyone to know that I take selecting parts for the Reatta Store very seriously to ensure you are getting the correct part.

Thanks to everyone who has shopped in The Reatta Store.

Ronnie,

Could you explain how the amazon store commission thing works? I was under the impression that you only received commission on the individual items you have on your store. If you're receiving commission on a "wrong" sensor it would imply they didn't get it in your store. I just ordered a new alternator for my '88 Seville on Amazon and if there is a way that I could've gotten you a commission i certainly would've done it that way.

Here is how I get a commission.

Basically if you start our on my website by clicking something on my website that leads you to Amazon.com I will earn a small commission. Any item from Reatta parts to big screen TVs qualifies.

If you go to my website and click on any item in the Reatta Store, OR you click a link in one of the tutorials that takes you to the amazon.com website, OR you click on one of the banner ads on my website that takes you to Amazon.com, I will earn a small commission on any item you purchase from Amazon.com. That is how the wrong part was purchase in this case. I see a daily report of items that were purchased that I earn a commission on. I don't get any information on the buyer that made the purchase. That is the reason I came here to try to alert the buyer that they had purchased the wrong oil pressure sensor so they could cancel the order before it gets shipped. I hope I was not out of line by starting this thread. If so I apologize.

Ronnie-

It may also be possible that someone knowingly bought that part for another model of car they own by way of your site. If I needed to order parts for my DeVille from Amazon, I'd likely go through your site to see that you got the commission, even though the part isn't for a Reatta. So, this could cause undue concern if you see an automotive part that you know is not for a Reatta on your daily report.

Of course, it is above and beyond for you to post here in the hopes of advising the buyer that they may have unknowingly picked the wrong part for what is assumed to be an order from a Reatta owner.

It could be true that this sensor was purchased for a vehicle other than the Reatta. What threw up a red flag for me is when I did a spot check on this part, as I sometimes do on parts that are likely to be for a Reatta, that Amazon's parts verification system showed it would fit a Reatta and I knew by looking at it that it wouldn't fit correctly. Here is a link to the part. You can check it and see what I mean.

This may seem odd but if Amazon had showed the part would NOT fit a Reatta, I would not have been concerned. Like you, I would have just thought that the part was purchased for a different vehicle... And that may very will be the case with this sensor.

I would rather post a false alert than have someone get the wrong part if they started out in The Reatta Store looking for a Reatta part. I look at the spot checking I do as service after the sale that the customer rarely knows about. In reality I may be trying to hard to ensure that Reatta Store customers are getting the correct part they need.

Guest Corvanti

thanks for doing that, Ronnie.

i used to have the opposite problem with amazon a few years ago. it would say the part did not fit my 80 Corvette when i had the part in my hand with the same look and part number!!!

The correct part is AC Delco 3532954 but Amazon relies on catalogs that are often rong. Don't get me wrong, Amazon is one of the most reliable of the on-line vendors but they rely on suppliers and if the supplier data is rong they have no way to correct (last year I received and returned three wrong alternators, second and third time I sent pictures and they assured me it was correct. Wasn't.) Like a little girl with a curl.

When I want a part I always go first to the mfr's site and then look for price. Sounds like Ronnie has already done the leg work.
