'57 Continental kit

Recommended Posts

I've got a couple of questions regarding this, mainly, how did it work with the rear bumper-mounted gas filler door? Traditionally with the old cars, the rear bumper was moved out from the back of the car, and a filler panel installed that housed the tire mount. How'd this work with the '57? Were they even available for Buicks in '57?
I'm trying to plan one for the back of my '54. I really want to get rid of the quarter panel gas filler door, so the '57 set up seems like a good idea (I know I'll need the tank and probably rear frame member), but I also want to put on continental kit on the car (and extend the quarter panels out a few inches to hide it on a profile).
Any verbal explanation of how it worked, or better yet a faxed diagram, would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
-Brad
(fax #: 863-858-0701)
