Guest cobalt3 Posted June 27, 2012 Share Posted June 27, 2012 i have a 56 olds i bought in sitting in a field for 30 years..most if the under the hood stuff is gone...its equiped with power steering..the box is there still..but being a newby what else does it need? a power steering pump? can someone give me a 5 second explanation how the system works...thanks shane...and why im here i have marked the power brakes with a yellow dot...tell me if im not right but all it needs is the cannister on the left:p and a line to the engine for vaccum right? Tedd Thompson Posted July 5, 2012 Share Posted July 5, 2012 No vacuum is involved in the steering, pump lines go to the power steering pump which is mounted on the left front of the engine and is powered by the crank pulley.
