FLYER15015
Am in need of 2 front wheel dust caps for a 1940 series 90 buick. The parts book (that Jolly-John made me buy) shows them as P/N 1299075 @ 20 cents a piece. They are common to 1937-41 series 80 and 90.Right now I have the end of a peanut butter jar duck taped over the spindle hub, and it works well, but I would really like to have the caps on.Mike in Colorado:p:p

Guest tboke
I just saw your post, won't be able to be of much help as I am need of a couple of caps for a 39 series 80 myself. I have looked everywhere i can think of locally and currently am using the cap (cut to size) from a paint spray can. Hope someone else has a lead on these dust caps. Jolly_John
Hi, Mike. What is the approximate diameter of the dust caps you need (as measured where the cap slips into the brake drum hub)? Thanks. Your ol' buddy John (aka Mr. Parts Book)
FLYER15015
John,I measure the diameter as 3". The I.D. that it would tap into.To remanufacture these would take at least a 2-3 stage punch and die set, and for such a limited application, it would not be worthwhile.I've toyed with the idea of machining them out of aluminium bar stock, but you would have to install them with a steel ring punch.I guess I could weld up a "cap" to a piece of exhaust pipe the correct size, but so far the end of a plastic peanutbutter jar is working fine.Mike in Colorado
