replace 1950 Steering Box with 1953

The manual steering box on my 1950 Styleline Special appears to have a worn output shaft bushing in the steering box.

I have read that a 1953 steering box and column is a direct replacement for the 1950 box and column. The 1953 is a better design with bearing rather than bushings.

Since I am new to old chevy's, I am wondering if this is true and are there sources of used or rebuilt 1953 units?
