Guest chrome60
HELP!! I need to remove my broken coolant themostat manifold on my 57 Special. I need advice on how to do it ASAP? Do I remove the heads and it spins out? Or do I remove the water pump and there is a way to get at it from there?
Pete Phillips
Neither. There should be two bolts holding it onto the end of each cylinder head, and then it is a press fit into the top of the water pump. Once the four bolts are out, hit it with a rubber mallet to break it loose, or pry upwards with a large pry bar. The toughest part is breaking it loose. Once loose, you can wrap your fingers around each half and alternately pull upwards and push down until it works its way up and out.Pete Phillips, BCA #7338Leonard, Tx.
