Guest coloradomtn
Hey all! I'm restoring a 1969 Riviera and was wondering if anyone knows where to get parts for it? Also, my engine would crank and turnover but will not start, what might be the problem? I took apart the carburetor and rebuilt it, and gas is going through the gas pump but somehow it will not go into the carb. Any ideas? Thanks!Oh, and what kind of tires did these cars use?tia!Ed
Guest Commodore
On the gas problem, what kind of gas line is used between the fuel pump and the carb and is there a gas filter installed? On the parts issue, are you looking for specific parts or just in general? For info on 1969 Buick Rivieras, this guy seems knowiedgeable.Yardley's Buick Riviera Restoration
Guest coloradomtn
Hey! Thanks for the info. I bought a whole new Edelbrock carb today and installed it, and now the gas will go through the carb into the engine. But the engine still cranks and won't start. For parts, I'm looking for body, such as door panels, bumpers, etc. Thanks!Ed
TexRiv_63
Ed,If you have not already done so, you should post this on the Riviera Owners Association forum below in the Buick section, no shortage of experts there.
Guest Commodore
Ok the next is to check for spark. Remove one of the spark plug wires and put a spark plug in it and hold at against the engine. Then crank the engine and watch for spark. If no spark check the points. I think orginal carb is all gumed up.
Guest coloradomtn
Thanks for the tips! I finally figured out what is wrong with it, I think. It's not getting gas from the tank. Maybe fuel pump is broken? or something else? Also, do I need to fuel pump vent? Or can I just plug it off? Thanks!P.S. I have no idea how to move forums, sorry!Ed
jscheib
Don't worry about moving the forum. I would just repost in the Riv section with your latest questions, and you should consider joining both the BCA and the ROA, but at least the ROA. Both magazines have a number of vendors for all sorts of parts.John
