padgett
Why not just replace the bearings or doesn't anyone do that anymore ? What is the oil pressure doing ?
D-a-n-i-e-l
I just texted him about that. Also no not many people do a rod bearing swap any more. Kind of sad as less than $100 bucks can fix an engine instead of replacing one. On the other hand newer engines have very tight specs and a bearing jobs do not always work for long. With that said I just did one on a 3.4 grand am and have not had any issues with it at 1000 miles.
padgett
If going in I'd expect to replace both rods and mains and visual/plastigauge all surfaces. Only reason I replaced the short block in the bonne was because it was a cam bearing issue and no-one made oversize cam bearings (was in last century so may be available now).
