packick
I need to replace the seal around my 1955 Century windshield. I have found a seal from the usual vendors but they both say that their seal is for a late production or 2nd type model 1955 Buick. Bob's says, "Windshield Seal For 1954-56 Ser.40-60 Late-Production With Revel Moulding." Steele says, "Series 40 & 60 2nd type closed inc. 4dr hardtops." What was the serial number cut-off for an early vs. late model? Thanks.
bhambulldog
Is yours a four door hardtop? All '55 fourdoor hard tops are late '

bhambulldog
Okay, how about the oil filler cap(s)? One oil filler cap in the cover for the cam valley is an early '55.An oil filler cap on each valve cover (total of two caps) is a late '
packick
James: My oil filler cap is in the valley on my engine, not on the valve covers. However I was looking at the parts book and assuming the rubber "windshield seal" that I am looking for is called the "windshield channel" in the parts book, it says anything before body number 903 is early 1955 and after 903 is late 1955. My body number is two thousand something. So now I am really confused.

packick
I agree. So I think I will order the Late weather seal. Thanks for your help.
bhead1968
I agree, go with the numbers. I just went and checked mine, just to see and my sequence # is higher that 903 (mine is 1297) and I have my Oil fill caps on my valve covers. Your car is nearly 60 years old, is your engine original to the car? Again, I'd go by the numbers since that would represent the correct body config.my worthless 2cts
Guest Rob McDonald
You wanna see a worthless 2 cents? Come to Canada. Our national mint just struck the last batch of maple leaf pennies. Question: will ever-polite Canadians learn to round up or round down?
