'36 Dodge body mount pads

Recommended Posts

New question! Does anyone know the correct thickness of the body mounting pads? I have a lot of old pads but many are crushed or swelled to the point that I can't get a firm thickness. I'm thinking 1/4 in.or 5/16in. I plan to cut them from mine belt. Also,I don't know if they are all the same thickness or if they differ according to location. I know the very front ones are thicker. Thanks in advance! Jim

I used 3/8" material on my 34 Dodge and it worked fine. I looked in my 36 Dodge book and it does not list those mounting pads.

Hi,

I'm using 8mm pads.

I spoke to a friend of mine and he suggested I use the black hardened rubber that weightlifters slam the weights into when they drop them. I had them cut the same size as the mounting tabs on the chassis and once the body is painted should be easy to move if necessary.

Just another option.

Ian

I dont know the correct thickness but may be able to tell you where the differences are if that would help.

The material we use down here is that used on conveyor belts, typically reinforced rubber with webbing interwoven; usually 1/2" to 3/8" in thickness.
