Guest fastvette
Accidently spilled oil on my fender. Tried cleaning it with waterless car wash and applie wax. Still has a slight smear. I was thinking about a wash with Dawn soap. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Guest Old48Truck
The Dawn dish soap should remove it. It's mild and made to cut grease.
jscheib
It might make a difference. Was this clean oil or dirty? If on the fender, I would assume clean which should come off if a good wax already on the car. But I would nat rewax until sure it is clean. If used oil, there may be other things in it.John
Guest leroy newell
Ya, dawn dish soap should take it off. It works great.
MarrsCars
Dawn will also strip any wax still in place so you will need to re-wax that portion after.

Dave@Moon
DON'T SCRUB!!! CLAYBAR AFTER WASH- MANY MICRO METAL, CARBON, DIRT PARTICLES IN USED OIL.--A big second on that one!Dawn brand dish detergent is used in many capacities because it leaves little to no residue if rinsed properly. For decades among scientists in the field it has been the standard for field cleansing of laboratory and sampling gear. Other brands can be used, but many (especially Palmolive--"You're soaking in it!") are designed to leave behind residues (often oils/softeners for hand/skin care) that are undesirable for this purpose. If Dawn is not available, use the cheap stuff. It'll likely have the least additives.
