Guest fred13
Anyone know where the vin tag is located on a 1929 essex coupe? Thanks
nzcarnerd
The Standard Catalog says that the serial numbers are on the dash and on the right rear frame member. Worth a look.
Guest fred13
Nothing on the dash, not even any holes. I don't have the frame. Anybody else??
CarlLaFong
Nothing on the dash and no frame? You're done for.
Guest fred13
Found two holes on the side of the dash, next to the right door jam. Could this be the location of the tag? With the door closed you can not see the tag or the holes. Maybe?
CarlLaFong
Could be, but you're not going to register a car using holes as a VIN
Guest fred13
I have the vin tag, mangled, but you can read the numbers, just wanted to know where it should be.
CarlLaFong
Aha. If the holes match, put it on. Don't use pop rivets, the DMV will spot that in a heartbeat. I'd get a couple of 1/8 drive screws. Give them a while to rust up a bit.Very often, any tag on a body is not the VIN or serial number, but a job number, body number, etc.
paulrhd29nz
Number plate is located on the top side of the fire wall. passanger side. should messure around 3"x 4" with one rivet in each corner.
Guest fred13
That makes sense, I have a 3 x 4 rust area on the firewall top pass side with a hole in each corner, my tag must have been cut down.
