Guest
Any info that can be given would be great. I am not going into this blind, but I have never done a Regal swap before. I have an 82 Regal, acquired very inexpensively and in great condition. It came with the 3.8 and a straight (non-o/d) 200 transmission, and that reallly weird (tubular and angled) tranny crossmember. I have three engine options: #1 512" cadillac motor, was mine before runs like a dream no smoke or anything visibly wrong with it, usual mods need to be done, cam, intake, card, headers, etc...
#2 is a 455 believed to be an Olds Rocket. Problem with this motor is I know nothing about the shape and as I have been TOLD, when it last ran it had a "knock".
#3 would be a Buick 350 from a 70 LeSabre, no info of this motor is available, but believed to be in runnable condition.
The tranny to be used (if possible) is a full race th350 that I had built by Jim at PAE enterprises. Shift kit, race clutches, the works. Suspension is not of concern, I am VERY comfortable with it as is rearend, though a recomendation would be nice. Any help would be great. Info such as the (heard of) firewall mods needed to fit the 512' Cad, and (I heard this) I can still use the 200 tranny X memeber just change mounts. Thanks alot for any help.
P.S. Will the 84-87 Chrome Centered Tail lights fit an 82, I don't see why not but just wondering.
BUICK3001964
The buick 350 can be bolted in using the v6 engine mounts. I've done a few 350 swaps are not bad to do,don't know much about the other 2 choises. GOOD LUCK
------------------
Sean Etson
Guest
The Buick 350 would be easiest. The 3.8's accesories should bolt right on. There are aftermarket performance parts for it.
For the rear, a good choice would be a 8.5" out of a 84-87 Turbo Regal or Olds H/O 442. Bolt in and durable.
84/87 Tail lights will work on the '82.

------------------
Rich George - b4black@flash.net
BEFORE BLACK Website - http://home.flash.net/~rjgeorge
Guest
i would also go with the buick 350. it would be the easiest and the cheapest. the caddy would be too much work and money to put it into that car. i would put a buick 455 in before the caddy.
also i would think that a turbo 3.8 v-6 would be easier to put into that car if you want a real screamer of an engine.
but that is my 0.02 cents
riv1973
