1954 New Yorker Parts

Recommended Posts

New project car, looking for tubeless type 15" wheels, 4 1/2" bolt pattern, 5-6" width, for 54 New Yorker. Also may be needing electrical parts (starter relay and dash switches). Also, anyone switched one over to 12 volts? What is involved? Are there benefits to doing it?

My brother is parting out a rusty 1954 New Yorker. It may have parts you need, however, I recall the wheels are missing, so that won't help you much. However, if you just want any 15" wheels, 4 1/2" bolt pattern, 5-6" width, I suggest looking into regular 1960's-80's Dodge car wheels. If you plan on using full wheel covers, then these may work, though I have not personally tried it.

Thanks for the reply, I have since swapped that car for another in much better condition. I could use a heat riser (if it is in working condition) and an extra starter relay (the black junction box mounted on the left fenderwell).

Hi I'm looking for Both headlights bezels and both front parking light trim, the front drivers side chrome molding and a glove box door and a steering wheel. Thanks for any help.

Sorry Larry I can't help you out, I sold the rough car and only have the good one left. I have had good luck with some extra misc parts on e-bay.

Thanks any way. Do you know if any one is making floor patch panels for this car and if you or any one else knows about what engines and transmissions are a direct replacement (fit). I just got the car and was told it originally had a Hemi but a previous owner removed it. The person I got the car from has a Mopar V8 that says Spitfire on the valve covers and he says it is a direct fit out of a 56 or 56 Chrysler. Can anyone tell me if this is correct? I can ID the motor if someone will tell me how. Thanks for any help.

Yes, I have seen the front floor pans advertised, I was considering them for the project car but then did not need them after finding my present car. I am not sure on the motors but I would think that all the hemi's up to the late 50's would be pretty much the same block. I do know that up to 53 the upper half of bell housing was cast as part of the block. That changed in 54 when the entire bell housing was a separate piece. My project car was a 54 but had a early style 53 block in it, maybe they were just using up what they had on the line. My present car has the newer style block.
