Electronic Ignition vs. Pertronix

<BR>Hi there:<P>What´s the pros and cons of installing an electronic distributor against of simply installing a Pertronix module in my points ignition of a ´64 300 engine.<P>Thanks.

I had been considering and planning on going the Pertronix route for my '69 Skylark Convertible 350-4, but I came across a Buick HEI distributor at the salvage yard for $20.<P>I'm not positive, but I think you can running a bigger plug gap with the HEI, but probalby not enough to make a difference in my 350 or your 300.<P>One advantage of the HEI set up is that the top of the distributor sits higher than the points distributor making it easier to get underneath to loosen or tighten the distributor lock down bolt. I guess the hieght issue could be a disadvantage if it runs into your stock air cleaner though.
