Guest gmarinez
I removed the driver's side outer door handle because it is sloping downward slightly and not aligned straight horizontally with back door handle. Does anyone have advice on how to align handle so it stays horizontally straight with the back handle. Or do I have to remove the mechanism and if I do how do a I remove the mechanism. Any advice would be helpful.
critterpainter
The most common causes of handle droop are 1. wear or 2. a broken spring inside the door latch assy.
DavidAU
I know nothing about Buick door handles however this is a common problem on the early Ford V8's that have the outside door handle cast onto a sqare shaft that goes into the door latch.Even with new springs in the latch it only takes a little wear over the years in the latch to let it sag so the fix is to clamp the shaft in a vice and heat the shaft near the handle with an oxy torch then twist the handle slightly to conteract the sag. Problem fixed.
