rowan782
On mid fifties Mopar cars, is convertible frame beefed up more than two-door haardtop (no B-pillar)?
X-Frame
Yes, all Mopar convertibles up to 1959 had an X brace and the steel is thicker than the side rails. (went unibody in 1960)Imperial models continued with a seperate frame until 1967 when it went unibody.Eric
rowan782
Thank you sir. Do you have diagram of the ragtop frame?
X-Frame
Here are a couple of a 1957 DeSoto Adventurer Convertible one of which you can see the thickness of the X beam. As far as style, the "mid 1950s" design ran from 1957-1959. The 1953-1954 model was different and depending on brand, the 1955-1956 are either the same or slightly different.Which car are you working on - interested in and I may be able to zero in better?Eric
