krazykat
So what's the deal? I've not been able to locate any original or reprintsof any shop manuals for eight cylinder models for 1929 or 1930 Stude-bakers.I do have the reprints of the chassis and body catalogs but what gives on the books with shop practices? While I'm sure that I can improvise and use manuals like Dykes and others, I'd like to get my hands on the real deal.

Mark Huston
A service manual for the 1929 Studebaker's does not exist. Studebaker issued service manuals in the mid-late 20s, and then stopped switching to service bulletins for 1928 to the early-mid 30s before returning to service manuals. Your only recourse is to obtain the service bulletins for the late 20s to early 30s and search through them looking for items that pertain to the President model. The service bulletins were only issued to authorized Studebaker dealers and an original set is hard to come by. There has, in the past, been someone offering them on a CD-ROM. I do not know if the CD-ROM set is still available. Krazykat I sent you a private message.
Shop Rat
You might want to check with Chris Ritter at the AACA Library and Research Center and see what he can find for you there. If you are an AACA member you get as part of your membership 1.5 hours of free research. Copies can be sent to you for a nominal cost. Non-members can also have research done but there is a cost for that.
