I beleive the current one is a 2.73 that goes with the 350/ 4<P>is 3.08 enough gear change. or should I keep hunting for anpoother unit with higher gears?<P>also am thinking about a 455 down the road. want to build it this winter for the spring. Guest Posted July 6, 2000 Share Posted July 6, 2000 Ok, so you want to upgrade to a bigger gear. Well, let me tell you what I know. Buick engines are natural torque monsters. They run their best in the lower rpm's. When you have a car that runs like this, you need to have higher gears. I'm not saying higher than 2.73's, But you deffinitely don't need to have 4.10's in it. For most Buick's, the best gear ratios that you can get aftermarket are 3.42's and 3.55's. Trust me, I work at an auto parts store, I know what you can find.
