Value of 1920 Chevrolet engine

I'm trying to find the value of a 1920 Chevrolet engine. I'm not familiar with classic car/parts. Is it simply a case of what the market will bear at that point in time? I know a guy who is retiring to FL and has an engine sitting there. He can't sell it. If I could make money on it, I'd buy it. I think he's exhausted his options and is going to scrap it if he has no buyer. I'm not in a position to buy it and then sit on it, either.

Any help?

apologies....

it is a complete motor. It turns over easily, but I didn't see it run. It doesn't appear to be rebuilt. appears to be original. Located in PA.
