Congratulations to the Hornets Nest Region on another well organized Spring meet. It is always fun to see old friends and make new ones. I'm sorry I didn't get to talk to Wayne this year and Susan, you didn't stop by AGAIN!!! I wanted to address Mr. Oakes question at the awards ceremony about the format adopted by the Hornets Region this year. For those that weren't there, what was done was the show field was dismissed at 3:00. 1 hour was given to load cars onto trailers etc and then the awards ceremony was held at 4:00. then there was a picnic held for those that made reservations for it immediately after.

Personally, I liked it because I had to leave early this year and would not have been able to hang around for the traditional banquet and awards ceremony. It worked well and allowed for those who don't want to sit around for a banquet to get their award in person. Congratulations to the Hornets Nest for a great idea!!!

I did look for you, Dave.:) I saw both of your unique cars on the show field.

I think everyone was busy working in Charlotte to help put on this great event. Hope to meet the ones of you I missed at the next event.

Another great event in Charlotte! Been going for years and it's always a great time visiting with old friends, finding treasure in the flea market and enjoying the beautiful cars on Saturday. Yes-the format is great! No neckties!!! A big thanks must go to the folks working on the field judging, and the folks in administration who put it all together in time to do the awards presentation. I know the larger the meet the more difficult it is to get all the admin done (ask me how I know!). Mel Carson and all the folks in the HNR deserve congratulations for such a great friendly meet! I'll try to get a few pics done soon but we're still tired. The new format gave us a chance to hit the road early as we had a Sunday club event we wanted to attend back here in Tidewater. I'm sure you will see this kind of thing done again. We tried it several times over the years and it's always been well received.

See you next time-

Dave,

It was nice meeting you. Due to another commitment, I had to leave right at 3 pm, so I even missed the awards ceremony, but a friend picked my award up for me. I will have to try to post a photo of you and that unique Crosley soon!

Matt, the pleasure of the meeting was all mine. It was great getting to meet some of the folks that I get to chat with on here. I always try to put a face on a person until I get to meet them. In your case, I had a much older gentleman pictured.

Wayne, I was behind you in the line to pick up my DPC award, and tried to get your attention, but you were busy talking...... by the way...are you coming to Reading?????

Dave,

Thanks for your kind words about AutoFair. I was parked beside you in the Fiat Spider. Sorry I didn't get a chance to meet you, but I was involved in show activities for HNR. Maybe at the next show.

Dave;

Sorry I missed you also. I was going for a Senior on my Farm O Road and spent most of my time up there. I would have liked to talk to you on the Fiat. My best friend in college had a 124 sport coupe that we managed to get in a lot of trouble with!!!

Dave,

It was difficult to get a photo without any spectators gawking at your Crosley :D , but I did manage to sneak back later and get one. Here are a couple of photos.

Thanks Matt;

Can I get permission from you to use them in the Crosley Auto Club publication (with proper crediting of course)?
