1938 Buick Coupe Weatherseal

I purchased a strip of trunk weatherseal for my coupe from Bob's. It's rectangular profile, glues in, and I assume attaches inside the "groove" around the trunk lid edge.

Is there a trunk gutter seal for this car? In the 37/38 Fisher Body manual the 37 section shows a gutter seal, and mentions its removal and reinstall - but in the 38 section the few pictures I can find don't seem to show a gutter seal,

and "seem" to show a foam seal in the lid like the one I have.

Searches returned nothing, so I thought I'd ask.

Generally speaking, late 30's GM sedans have weatherstrip in the trunk opening and coupes have rectangular weatherstrip in the trunk lids.

Loco,

When I replaced all the door rubber last fall on the LTD,

I tried "bob's" for my trunk rubber and it did not fit in the groove.

The door seal P/N DW 493 worked very well around the trunk. Just put the BIG bump to the outside.

I just installed the square weatherstrip in the trunk LID of my '39 Buick convertible, and nothing goes in the body gutter. I only buy from Steele, because they will give money back if you don't need it, and they make it all. They do make mistakes. They offer a seal for the bottom of the door that does not work on a '39 Buick. You have to use the '40 Buick type of sealing. There are NO holes in the bottom of a '39 Buick door for the ones they sell for a '39. Those are for a '38 and possibly earlier.
