Guest clutch cargo
I'm new to this forum and wonder if there are any Reatta owners in Las Vegas NV. I'm looking for a mechanic referral. I recently purchased a cherry 88 Reatta that spent a long time in storage in Arizona. My first maintenance will be a thorough check of the Teves brake system and need to find some one who knows what they are doing. Anyone? Bushwack
Anyone? Is this "I chose the siilver over the driftwood Reatta" Richard? The short version is... I would first spend some time here - Reatta Owners Journal - Home. Go to the brake section at Brakes & ABSRepair Instructions and Tutorials*-*ReattaOwner.com, read it, print it out and take it to a mechanic you have a relationship with. There are very few mechanics (here in L.A.) that understand the Teves system but with proper instructions in hand, they will take the time to check out the system, flush, etc. That car is indeed cherry and as it has been sitting around in storage for a while, the brake fluid surely needs to be flushed (among other things). When you have some time, read through the site Buick Reatta Repair Tips and Information*-*ReattaOwner.com. Ronnie (who is a member of the forum) has done (and continues to do) a terrific job with his site with various 'how to tutorials' and other good stuff as it pertains to the Reatta. Between the forum members here and Ronnie's site, you will not find more knowledgeable people/resources for your new ride.-- Ervin
Guest clutch cargo
Yes, one and the same, Bushwack. Thanks for the suggestions. As you can see, other than you, there are no responses to my question. In fact I have seen only a few Reattas in my 12 years in Vegas so maybe there is no support here. Anyway, I'm starting with the brakes, will replace all rubber and belts, then put it on the highway. I'm sure the diagnostics will give me an idea of the history before I get too crazy. By the way, what is a good source for retail value for insurance purposes. Kelly BB doesn't work.

Guest reattasummerlin
I live in Summerlin and have an 88 Reatta as well as a 90 Chrysler TC/Maserati...I am going through problems with the TC brakes now (Teves). I joined the Buick Club in town and they have some resources. I will check old emails form them and see about the name of a mechanic they recommend. Guest clutch cargo
I found a brake shop that who's owner and technician are very familiar with TEVES brake system. Mr. Brake on DI and Jones if that helps. However, if you need a new unit the tech will tell you that they are pricey, if even available. So much so that the cost may exceed the value of the car. But they do not use AACA resources that may find a rebuild if needed. Overall, going beyond being opinionated, they provided very good service. They replaced the pressurized bladder/reservoir that I provided, let the bladder pressure flush the lines/ bleed the brakes. Checked brakes for wear and shocks for under $100. Next door is a newer mechanical repair shop that has a couple of talented techs, one a master tech that helped with my car inspection. The found intake manifold leak and split motor mounts and repaired at a reasonable price. I have the old parts that showed I was close to a full blown gasket that would have been costly. They caught it when I missed it. I think I like them but sometimes it s good to have a 2nd opinion so the hunt goes on.
Sheba65
Hey Clutch, I live in Vegas during the winter. I just purchased a 1990 Reatta Coupe. I was wondering if you still have yours and maybe we can talk. Mine is in pretty good shape but the a/c is out and I took it to Buick since I don't know anyone else either. We are in Vegas until March and I need some other work done as well. Please let me know if you have some people other than the ones at the brake place.
