Guest stschreib
How hard (or easy) is it to replace the serpentine belt? All my other cars are simple...nothing in the way and I usually change them out in minutes. My belt is very cracked on my 1990 coupe. I see a bracket in the way as well as a suspension part (maybe part of the strut). Any procedures on how I change the belt out. Thank you.Steve
ductune
It's easy. The bracket has to come off, it's only two nuts. The damper you saw if part of the engine mount. You should be able to slide the belt past it. No need to remove it.
Guest stschreib
I just finished changing it out. I had to remove the one bracket which was the easy part, then had to remove the 2 bolts to the other pivoting bracket that attached to the engine and loosen up the pivoting belt to give me enough slack to slide the belt through. All together it took about an hour from start to finish tightening everything back up. Steve
padgett
Once skilled, it takes about 10 minutes on a cold engine.
Guest Recian
I had it down to 2 mins on my car. I had the bracket removed since the dampener's nut snapped off so it wasnt there there was no reason to have a bracket
Guest stschreib
Wow - 2 mins must be the all time record... I have my work cut out for next time... In all fairness, I did change my 91 Regal and 2005 Outlander in under 5 mins. My 49 truck is a little longer being it has 3 belts and adjustment screws instead of the tension pulley....lol
Guest Recian
Outlander is kind of a pain to change the belt but nothing compared to other mitsu's
