Guest sintid58
I have a set of wide white walls I took off my 55. They are too old to trust to drive any distance but have good tread and look pretty good when they are cleaned up. I have no idea of the age but they are Sears Allstate bias ply tires and I am pretty sure sears hasn't offered wide white walls of any kind for 40 years or so. If someone has a car they want to keep very original and trailer to meets these might be the things or if you drive it to meets on other tires then and have these mounted on other rims for show but I would not want to drive tires this old very far. They don't leak air and there are no cuts or cracks in them. If Interested I will get some pictures of them when I get time. I have no idea of price so we will have to work that out. If no one here is interested I may put them on Ebay and see what they bring.

old-tank
Sid I bought 2 sets (10 tires) in 1992 and drove on one set to my first BCA national meet in Overland Park, KS. By the time I got home I was limping at 35 mph with huge bulges and all 4 tires on the ground (I had already put the spare on). I returned all to Sears for a refund (minus mounting, balance and aggravation). Maybe they would be useful for static display in a museum, but the best use would be as an accelerant to burn brush.Willie

If I recall those things were made by The Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company for Sears. The main thing I recall about that incident is my cutting up of my Sears Credit card right in front of the manager of the large Sears store they came from because they wouldn't give a full credit on them. Since then, over three decades ago, my purchases of anything from Sears has been virtually zilch point zip. I can buy equally poor crap just about any place! MikesWoodieWorld
What a lot of negative stuff about Sears tires! LOLI used their tires years ago, not wide whites, and had very good luck with them.Hey, these tires being offered are old, and still hanging in there, so perhaps the earlier ones were better than the bad reports listed above...who knows?I would like to know the size, since I am not familiar with 55 Buicks or their tire size. I have a 1948 Pontiac that could possibly use these, if they are close enough to the size.It is a Woodie, needing restoration, but I love to make them look good while being restored with a set of wide whitewalls...these may be perfect.OK, I have some Buick Woodies too!!Cheers, Mike
MrEarl
If you have no takers and can't sell them on eBay, I can give them a home in Buick Gardens if you can get them to Charlotte in June. HOW TO MAKE BLOOMING TIRE PLANTERS
