46 buick bumper ?

Today being nearly 70 degrees and sunny, I started my 46 Roadmaster and drove it out of the garage. I had purchased it just a few months ago, and haven't had a chance to really check it out.

I cleaned out the trunk, found several needed parts, and had noticed some time ago that the rear bumper didn't seem right. Looking it over I discovered the center section, or Lic. plate piece was UPSIDE DOWN. So I removed it, and then noticed something else just wasn't right. I discovered that the bumper has a ridge that isn't centered on the bumper. Looking at the front bumper I could see the ridge was closer to the bottom , but the rear wasn't. BINGO, the previous owner had bolted it on upside down. In the process all bumper holes didn't line up with the frame brackets, so they were left out. So needless to say I flipped it and now all is fine.

My question is this: The front bumper being two outer wrap around pieces that overlaps the center section, but the ends of mine stick on beyond the lic. plate bumper guard assembly, that can't be right. I don't have a 46 body/shop manual, so wonder if some one can post or E-mail me a close up picture of a 46 front bumper where it meets up with the lic. plate guards?

Something isn't right, maybe the two wrap around pieces AREN'T 46 pieces. I need some help, Please.....

Just last week I purchased on ebay a ROADMASTER front bumper emblem. A few pits, but cleaned up very nice, so I added the red paint. Paid $11.61 including postage. Today while fooling with my 46 RM I stuck my fingers up behind the front bumper emblem to learn how it was held in place, well the minute I touched it, it feel out and into my hand. The mounting tabs are in good shape, but someone had glued it in place, needless to say the glue failed. Sure glad it didn't fall out while I had it out yesterday.

Then while cleaning out the trunk which contained some extra parts, (ISN'T THAT NORMAL), I found another RM bumper emblem, so I now have 3. I will probably make an arty piece out of one.

Question: Are the bumper lic. plate top bars different lengths for the front and the rear of a 46? I am still sorting out an issue with my front bumper, and in measuring the Lic. plate top bar one is approx 1/2" longer than the other, and that might explain part of my issue. Anyone with a parts book might be able to tell me if they have different part numbers.
