1919 Studebaker "Big Six"

Recommended Posts

Hi- I'm not sure what you mean by a "pattern". Anyone who takes an original top and tries to copy that "pattern" on new material, and sew it, is not going to have a very nice end result. The original fabric is stretched and shrunk 9 ways to Sunday, not to mention the bow alignment.

The top, even in tatters, can be used as a guide to fabricate a new top. The new top pieces should be fit to your bows and correctly sewn and installed.

Has your friend done early tops before? If he needs pointers on how to do it from scratch, let me know, there's an old Stitts write up that explains the procedure, and there are some tricks of the trade involved.
