First Time owner of a Reatta

Welcome to our support group!

It really depends on how you define "good buy". In my opinion, if it's a pretty decent car, the price you paid is worth it. If kept in nice condition, your car will only go up in value.

Anyways, it's probably not going to do any good to know weather it was a good buy or not now, so might as well just enjoy the car!

Depending on where you're located (no citing the snow on the ground), you'll want to keep an eye on rust. My driver '89 came from Michigan. I replaced all the fuel and brake lines, as well as the gas tank and filler neck. All these are prone to rust if your car has spent most of it's life in the rust belt.

I also noticed you have the chronic "Insomniatic Reatta" (headlights staying up all the time). I, as well as several other here have various fixes. Check out my website (EastCoastReattaParts.com) and click on "Headlight Trouble?" to see the products I have available.

Just remember, keep your car in good shape, and it will only increase in value. There are less and else of those cars on the road every day. Which is continually making your car more valuable.

Again, welcome to the forum, and we hope you enjoy your stay! :)

It looks to be a good car. It's clean on the outside. If the interior is equally as nice it's a great buy. Alot depends on what problems does it have? Looks like your headlights dont go down. Does it have rust? Do all the bells and whistles work so to speak. There's alot of small things that'll change value that can be aggrivating to fix. You've got a good body which is way more than i've got lol then again it seems im the only one on here who drives one with no paint :(

I live in Fort Wayne IN, and every thing work but the radio has some problems but works. I guess the value really does not mean any thing at this point. Lost my son in December and he owned a Sky Hawk T-type one of his dream was for me to get a Reatta so we could both have a rare 80s Buick.

2013 BCA national meet will be in South Bend.....get that Reatta ready and come to the meet.

I agree with Barney, to come to the BCA meet next year. You do not have to have a show Reatta or even close to attend. All are welcome to participate regardless of the condition of their car. You will meet many folks with interest in Reattas.

I am a past assistant director of the Reatta division and have met many many really nice folks at these meets.

Welcome aboard!

You have made a great choice (1988- in my opinion)...if you like a challange, and especially if you are mechanically inclined, like working with your mind and hands, you will definitely enjoy this vehicle. The information available and exchanged in this forum and other links provided will answer many of your problems/situations. When presenting a problem, try to limit your situation to one problem at a time...it will help us help you and it will definitely expedite the resolution. My personal experiences have proven that there are many seasoned owners on this forum, and that they are ready and willing to share there experiences just for the asking. Good luck with your purchase and again welcome aboard.
