Ian_Greenlaw
Hi,I remember a while ago someone listed a site where to buy bonnet / hood stays. They attach to the radiator support bars and when you open the bonnet the edges sit on these supported stays. Saves the painted cown from possible damage. Anyone have an idea the web site of the company that sells these ?ThanksIan
keiser31
A friend of mine (Harry Bishop) in San Diego invented them and used to make them, but he has passed away. I have no idea if someone carried on his torch. They were called "Hood holders". They look sort of like this.....the ends were dipped in liquid rubber to protect the hood edges. Not sure exactly how it attached to the support rods....some sort of clamps. The holder itself was made of about the same material size wise as a kickstand on a bicycle. Texacola
Hi, I believe all the Model A suppliers carry them. Mac's has two different types,Hood Prop Kit & Hood Prop Support Springs. Both as Keisers diagram shows attach to the radiator support rods.I picked up a set on ebay that were $10 cheaper than the avg. catalog prices. My '27 DB only has one support rod so I will try to find a way to adapt the kit. If you "34? has two support rods it should be easier to make fit (again I believe they are made for fords).Anyway the web site is www.MacsAutoParts.com .
