Guest JoeUpstateNY
I would like to take the body from a 48 Lincoln continental coupe and put it on another frame (maybe from a scrapped F150) so I can drive it while I work on the original frame and engine. Any one heard of this or have some ideas?
Tom_Overfield
I suppose anything is possible, however you do know that body is welded to the frame right? To me it would be a lot of work to get the body off, then to turn around and try and get it back on square. My suggestion would be to remove the motor, transmission, front and rear axles, then put what's left on a rotesserie and start the process. ezdusit
One of our members transplanted a '48 Continental cabriolet onto a '77 Town Car chassis. He told me the wheelbase was only 1 inch different and he centered the front wheels in the wheel cutout and let the rear wheels be one inch too far back. Nobody even notices with the skirts on the car. He kept the body and interior intact, but has a 460 with automatic transmission, A/C, power brakes and steering. It looks good and is a great road car. He saved a very rusty car in the process.
