Pete Phillips
The subject is a 1939 Century 4-dr. sedan in my garage. It has new running board covers and there is a space of about an inch between the rear end of each running board, and the bottom leading edge of the rear fender. Is there a moulding or piece of rubber or something that goes there to fill the space, or should there be a space at all?Pete Phillips, BCA #7338Leonard, TX
jvelde
Pete,My '39 Business Coupe has a space of about an inch both at the front and rear of the runningboards. Bear in mind the rear of my originals are pretty ragged, but the fronts are rolled over and very finished looking, so I am sure that is the original look.John V.Carrollton, TX
Guest Grant Magrath
Space. The rubber is glued down over the edges, and I believe the rear end has a metal reinforcement bracket.CheersGrant

Yesterday, I was ebaying a 1939 steering wheel while he was working on one via the telephone -- we were working on the same one! It is a small world.Bryce Denny
critterpainter
If I recall correctly the original boards had a huge chunk of rubber on the front and rear that spanned the gap between the board and the fender.Bill
