Guest Richie09
I have sent my check and Information request form to Wisconsin DoT and they have no record but suggest I have the VIN wrong and should recheck that. This would apply to a 1940 Dodge or Plymouth pickup truck where there are two plates on the passenger door jamb: one has the serial number and model number, also gross weight....the other plate just under it is what I call the body plate which has the cab style and another number (in this case it is 4012 2582).What I need to know is how these numbers are typically listed on a title; together, separate, all running together, what so I can apply again in the proper format for WI to be able to trace this truck of mine.Any help appreciated. Guest Jim_Edwards
The Serial Number is the only pertinent number when it comes to titles and registrations in any state. How long has it been when the given vehicle might have been titled and licensed in the State of Wisconsin? If it has been more than seven years it is highly unlikely you'll be able to retrieve any info on the vehicle such as previous owners because the records will have been dropped from their computer system, if ever on it, unless previously reported as stolen, and even if it were to be there they probably won't give out the information. Guest Richie09
Thanks Jim, it has a 1967 farm plate on it and the string of bills-of-sale I have does not indicate a registration since '67. So, I will save my time with WI and forget about finding the last owner. Its a long shot but thought I could call them and maybe they still had the title in some dusty file cabinet!Regards, Rich
