35cz8
I am looking for a pair of sidemount spare tire locks. I would like to find a set keyed the same but will consider single locks as well. I have several pictures of the locks I am looking for posted on my AACA home page in a folder. If you have any of these locks or know where I might find them. please drop me a note or reply to this post. Thanks,Bob<!-- google_ad_section_end -->
Guest 1930
Good luck, it took me many years to find even one original and then a wheelbarrow full of cash to have some more reporoduced. What year do these fit, similar to mine but not quite.
35cz8
Hi Jason, I have one (as seen in my pics) and it works perfectly for my 1936 Dodge sidemount. Years ago I found a bunch of these at a swap meet but at that time I did not have the sidemounts so only bought one to use on another car. Now i have the sidemounts and need another of these for the other spare. I would think that these were used on a lot of different cars that have the same thread on the sidemount. I also have a complete extra set of sidemounts for my 1936 and when I can gather up all the parts, I want to take some good pictures of the complete set up with all the parts needed for sidemounts. I see a lot of people buying parts of sidemount's on E-Bay and thought it might be of help, to them, to be able to see "every" part that they need to make their set up right. I want to document, as much as I can, all of the options / accessories that I have as I work on my old cp.
Guest 1930
So these are 36, I would like to see how these work and the parts to make it happen as well. ( tough to picture still even with the good pict. you posted ) My particular car used a similar cylinder/cylinder housing and there was a rod attached to backside of same housing that passed thru rim and into a female receptable on fender. Again good luck, boy if I ever saw a bunch of these at a swapmeet I prob. would not believe my eyes. I dont have any hopes of seeing another original for my car available for sale. I need one more as well. I have everything needed but the lock for the other side of my car.I had some reproduced, I had to make the rod but the cylinder/key assy was done and it is outstanding. I just dont like the funky key Edited January 29, 2012 by 1930 (see edit history)
35cz8
Jason, I have added another 9 pictures to the lock album to try and help show how the lock goes with the sidemount bar to lock the tire. The pin part of the lock has internal (female) threads and attaches to the threaded stud on the vertical sidemount bar. Then you slide the outer cover (with the key) over the pin. By turning the key back to it's original position, it locks the outer cover on to the pin. Hope this helps clear it up a bit. If you want or need larger size imiges, let me know and I will send them to you as they are large enough to blow up for detail.Bob
