I took my rear end out for an overdue overhaul and noticed that the torque ball seal had become contaminated with oil and grease (bad seals) and was disintegrating. I have been looking for one myslf for my 1939 Buick special 40 but with not much luck. I saw your post looking for the same part and was wondering if you had found a surce for the part.
