drptop70ss
Greetings, Picked up a 1941 desoto businessmans coupe today, car is very rough but I want to try and save it. There is a trim tag on the passengers side firewall and I see another oval shaped metal tag on the drivers side firewall. Are any of these numbers the body serial number that I can use to get a registration? (no title for this car in NY, just a registration) If none of these are the location where would I find the number? Thanks
keiser31
The serial number plate is on the front passenger side door post.
drptop70ss
Thank you, checked and it was actually there. Never saw a car with it on the passenger side before.
ply33
Thank you, checked and it was actually there. Never saw a car with it on the passenger side before.Changed to driver's side after WW2. You can look up the number on my web site to see what factory it was built in, etc. Plymouth First Decade: Where is the VIN?
drptop70ss
thank you! Do you know what if any plymouth sheetmetal would be the same as the desoto? My hood is in bad shape as well as the doors and running boards. I think I can find plymouth sheetmetal easier than desoto.
Guest Savin the unsavable
Plymouths are in a class of their own, from what I understand. Dodge, Desoto, and Chrysler are similar. They are larger than the Plymouths. The Dodge, DeS, and Chrys all bolt up to the body tub, but you have to use the entire front clip. At least the outer sheetmetal.
