America is the land of free speech. I have learned to accept ALL comments, each to his own likes and dislikes. That's what makes our country GREAT....

Years ago I took my custom 41 Buick Limited to a Buick show, I was treated like I was the WORST guy on the planet. The same month I took my custom Corvette to the Super Chevy show, parked next to a purist, and he treated me so nice, and was even interested in my car. I understand that Buick shows have changed and customs/modified Buick's are now more accepted, and that's good. I have always wondered ,WHY is it that the Buick Motor Company has for years built custom/concepts and THAT'S ok??? I have attended auto shows and seen Buick engineers looking over a Buick custom, and I didn't hear them complaining, they ENJOY the creativity other contribute.

There are enough 55 Buick's around for the purist to see/own, so it isn't like spooner has DESTROYED the last 55 on earth.

I have been a Buick guy since I was 9 years old, that was nearly 66 years ago, so it's not like I'm new in the hobby. NOTHING is going take away my interest in ALL Buick's, customs, and originals.

Bob, with all due respect, I think it is incorrect to label this as a purist's forum. I prefer to see it as a place where Buicks are appreciated in all their ways shapes and forms. That red 54 you posted is drop dead gorgeous. And Spooners is very nicely executed.

Dale, I am sorry you were treated that way at a Buick Club event. I hope time has diminished that pain and we'll see you at a future event with another Buick.

I couldn't agree more....like anything it's what you make it.

I was strong with the "purist" term but we both understand the general thrust of this board and that is, to stay original. There are varying degrees of how others see this, as is the case here in this very thread.

Drive'r like you stole her spooner.....and be sure to show off that Buick, like John said don't let a hater at some show get you down.

I am a very POSITIVE person, just ask my bride of 51 years. I fear that sometimes my comments will be mistaken, the reader can't hear the tone of my voice, or see my body movements, so please understand I have NO GRIPES with anyone's comments.

Being somewhat arty I have a hard time NOT modifying stuff, LOL. My just purchased 46 Road Master WILL be as much stock as I can make it. I may install a louder muffler, ALWAYS LOVED THE SOUND OF A STRAIGHT EIGHT. hehehe

I am working on my 41 Limited in my shop as I write, I am adding a SWEEP SPEAR, like the Brunn coach builders drew up in the late 40's, and was never produced. Maybe I can send a picture to someone to post for me.

Happy New Year,

I apologize for stepping on toes with pics of the car and forum rules. Paint it green and white put the stainless back on. There, its unruined. I've never shown a car (live) in my life, never will. A few of you guys have helped me with a mechanical issue I had was why I (formally) joined the forum. I have read this forum from a distance for a couple years and have enjoyed it. I greatly appreciated the help I recieved from a few members troubleshooting. You guys are the first to see this car redone, drove it through high school, after 40 plus years it was time for a face lift, the old gals want to look young you know, so decided to be hip as they say or used to anyway, and went this way. Oh by the way, I didn't write a check to get her done, except upholstery. Unless you happen to see me and my dog driving by going pheasant hunting or throwing sticks in the river you won't have to look at her anymore. Thanks again for the help...Spooner

SPOONER, there are eight holes that you chose not to fill, which tells the wide world that this is a Buick and a four-holer, to boot. Great car! I would love to see pics of the interior when you get it back in. Enjoy your big beauty. After forty years of ownership, you've earned the right to build this car any way you like.

I would be interested in hearing about the front brake setup on your car. I could be mistaken, but it looks like a big rotor in there...

Not to hijack this thread, but I (and probably many others) would like to see pictures of your Limited.
