1935Packard
Today I started up my '41 110 to check out the latest on the speedometer noise problem -- I cleaned and lubricated the cable, but the problem is still there -- and instead ended up with a new problem: While I was driving the car, at some point I began to hear a loud buzz from behind the dash board. I pulled over and took a video so you can watch/hear for yourself: Whenever the ignition is on, it makes a buzz. The sound is the same whether the car is running or not. The car still starts and runs fine, but I sure would like to figure out what the buzzing noise is. Any ideas? Steve_Mack_CT
Will have to see the video tonight but did you remove the battery cable? I might take that precaution just to be on the safe side, even though the ignition switch should keep the circuit open when in the "off" position. The only other thing I will say is that I nearly burned my car when we first got it. The dome light switch got halfway between on & off, and while no noise, it did not take too long for it to start smoking; we were warming the car up for a ride. luckily for me when you kill the ignition you killl the power to that particular light also, I was probably 3 to 5 seconds from igniting the upholstery - the plastic switch actually melted. My point is be be very careful - buzzing seems to indicate a short to me, and I would not let it go on too long especially if you do not know exactly where it is coming from. Be ready to kill the battery and keep an eagle eye out for smoke while you look at this.

1935Packard
Thanks, Saltydog. You were right: I fiddled with the windshield wiper handle and the sound went away. Interesting. While I have you, do you know which number service letter you're thinking? I see them posted here, but I'm not sure which is the electrical section.
