Guest ChrisD
I am looking to sell my 1962 Buick Special. What do you guys think is a fair asking price? I was thinking around $6,000.I have been lurking in the forums for a while, nothing substantive to add as of yet. 198 V6, runs great...I do not know if it has ever been rebuilt, but, doesn't look like it to me. It doesn't smoke on start-up or when driving. It does have a small coolant leak from the water pump gasket, but, only when cold & sitting. The body is strait & solid, has a good base/clear paint.....I was told it was done around 10 years agoIt has a little rust under the paint where the sail panels meet the rear fender, but, it isn't bad.It was built in Southgate, California, sold in California where it remained until a few years ago. Sequence #959, built in the first week of FebruaryThe original color was Willow Mist Metallic and it had/has Fawn Cloth / VinylIf you are interested, send an email & I will send a phone #garageink76@hotmail.com
StillOutThere
Now there is a great practical hobby starter car CHRISTMAS PRESENT to get your GRANDSON into the hobby. Even the color is right. What are you waiting for guys?
Bleach
$6K sounds a bit too optimistic, especially these days. The rust, color change repaint and leaks are issues. $3K to at the most, $4K, would be more realistic.
Guest my3buicks
Old Car Price Guide puts a # 4 Special 2 Dr Coupe is $3500 # 3 is $7,880 - so somewhere in between those numbers - the average of those two is $5,690 - Sounds like he is starting price is not way out of line. Not a high demand car though so it may be a tough sell.It looks like a great little car to zip around in and get some decent gas mileage while doing it.As stated above, would make a fantastic car to get you into the hobby. Bleach
It wouldn't hurt to try but OCPG's values seem a bit inflated lately. I look at real world figures, like current ads on various classifieds, recent sales, etc. I have time to look up stuff due to my employment situation. Pete Phillips
Is it a 3-speed stick or an automatic? A 3-speed stick would really get decent fuel mileage.Pete Phillips
Guest ChrisD
2 speed auto...I traded a hot rod 82 Chevy truck for it. I'm not in any hurry to sell it. My family likes cruising around in it. If it doesn't sell, I plan to paint the top & sides silver & have Classic Soft Trim do the interior. Either way I'm happy.
