fcarnut
I have a 1939 Buick Special Business Coupe Series 40 just out of a long garage storage. The ID number is one issued by the state of Ca. because they couldn't find the correct frame number. I found the correct number on the frame tag that is: 134749XX. This is a second family owned car ( originally from Pennsylvania) in original condition with 79,435 miles on the odometer (original?). It has a new Delco battery and replacement fuel pump. New points, condenser, rotor, cap and wires on the standard 248 cu.in. motor. The water pump is noisy and should be rebuilt or replaced. Doesn't seem to overheat. The rear shocks need oil or rebuilding. Brakes and lines were replaced several years ago and still work excellent. The glass is in good condition with no chips or cracks. The upholstery is original and shows signs of wear and a few stains. The steering wheel plastic is cracked but covered with a wheel cover. The horn ring is also broken. The lights are in working condition including the turn signals. The paint is mostly original except were there was some body damage and repair work performed in the past. This means there are chips, scratches and fading to the paint. There is a dent in the front under the grille and the drivers side grill does have a couple of cracks and is bent. The trunk is in good condition with most of the original material liner still present. No rust out on the floor or tool box area. The bumpers are rough and need to be replaced. There are a few areas of rust in the body that could use attention. Also included is the original manual and misc. items and 3 aftermarket reproduction shop manuals in near perfect condition. If you're into unrestored original cars this is the one for you. Fix the minor stuff and drive it or restore it to its original splendor. I have a clear current Ca. non-op title. I have more pictures and can take more pictures of areas of concern upon request. Your personal inspection is welcome There is a $500.00 non refundable deposit due within 48 hours and the balance due with in 7 days of purchase. Any check must clear my bank before the release of the car. I have tried to describe the condition to the best of my ability. It is the prospective buyers responsibility to ask as many questions as possible to feel comfortable with the purchase prior to buying There is no warranty expressed or implied and is being sold as is where is. Car must be moved within 30 days of purchase. You are responsible for all shipping and transportation costs. Local delivery is available for a modest fee which also includes delivery to a shipping dock in the LA, So Cal area. If you're interested, don't wait. It might be too late!! Good Luck! fcarnut
I've been told this is actually an Opera Coupe because of the jump seats and the gas tank is in the rear not the side of the body. Price reduced to $7,500 Edited December 5, 2011 by fcarnut (see edit history)
