Pete Phillips
I am slowly restoring a 1949 Chrysler Town and Country convertible for a friend. The car was in a garage fire some years ago, so the top fabric was completely destroyed. I am ready to do a new convertible top, but need the pattern for one, so I know what dimensions to cut & sew. Have found a canvas fabric that he likes, but the place only sells it by the yard, so I need a pattern but don't know where to look. 1949 Chrysler New Yorker convertible would be the same, 1949-52. Any assistance or leads appreciated.Pete PhillipsSherman, Texaspphillips922@earthlink.net
junkyardjeff
You can get tops made in most fabrics and to make one from scratch it would be better to have pattern from the existing top,but if you insist on making it yourself you can get a vinyl top and use it for a pattern or make you own patterns from scrap vinyl.
