MarkV
Well, I got the 48 back up and running, as it turned out, it was the fuel pump as we all surmised! I replaced the old copper line from the pump to the carb. with rubber hose and I replaced the fittings, all seems to run well. I have an interior question, my headliner is falling right over my head, I pulled out some of the hard lining that was weighing it down (it was rotted). What is the best way to stick it back up? (it is the original headliner, I am waiting until everything is done to have the interior redone)
peecher
That old insulation is hard to deal with but I have had success using 3M contact adhesive sticking it back in place. I would however replace it all when you do the interior and new headlining. You might be better off just removing the loose ( and rotted) sections out for now. There can be a lot of corrosions on the underside metal roof where the insulation is applied and this will require a lot of cleaning before the new insulation is applied. MarkV
I went ahead and cut out the section above my head, apparently there were rats who lived up there at one time! So, I vacuumed out above what is left of the headliner (which is about 3/4) I then sterilized the interior! I am going to buff and wax it over the weekend. I just picked it up from getting the wheel cylinders redone and I had the brakes serviced...
Waldren
I would take the old out. Sticking it back is almost impossible. I replace the old with the aluminum foil insulation from home depot when doing interiors in all old cars. It insulates and still makes a body deadner. I believe the original was more for a body deadner than insulation. Lee Waldren Fort Myers, Fl.
