Bushwack
I've changed quite a few taillight bulbs in my life.Earlier today I attempted to replace all the taillight bulbs in my newly adopted child. Two were out so might as well do all of them. Success was had with all but one socket (third from the right).Of each of the four bulbs I tried for that socket/housing, every time I would turn on the lights to see if all was OK, the bulb would illuminate as if I had the brakes on. After troubleshooting what I thought could be the problem, on a whim I cleaned out the housing (which wasn't too bad). Put the bulb back in (w/ minimal grease) and it worked as it should.Kinda had a V8 moment.
johnemac
Twice while messing with the rear bulbs the bulb glass would break and removing the base always seems to end up a bigger job then it should be. Maybe some corrosion your bulb grease would remedy.
