Any sharp eyes catch the '38 Willys right behind our hot-rod ? It also appears to be wearing a "Traffic Violator" plaster on the lower right of the windshield.

Also spotted: '46-'48 De Soto, '41-'47 Chevy / GMC truck, '38 Ford Deluxe / '39 Standard...

I especially like the pipe-rack / diamond plate box on the fender of the truck... almost elegant in its functionality...

Frank, I believe it's a '40 Merc with a '41 Ford bumper, rather than a '38/'39 Ford.

By golly, you're right Dave... I just glanced at the bulges on the sides of the hood and thought '38-'39 Ford...

Definitely a Merc grille. :o

You fellows notice the two carbs? Are they side by side? And how about that air cleaner, or is a blower?????

We don't need no stinkin' air cleaners either - not even a screen to keep the big rocks out. He doesn't look too broken up about getting that "traffic violator" sticker....

I saw 47 license plates and the upper radiator hose connected to the front of the head, at that time Ford/Mercury was connected to center top of the head, so it had to be a Caddie.

No front shocks, probably none in the rear either. Check those high water pants on the cop.

See the barber pole on the building in the background? Makes me think the three guys at the rear of the pickup are barbers. Anyother old timers like me that remember when barbers wore neckties and smock coats?

I love the cut-down steering wheel and the battery right next to the exhaust manifold.

i don't see any exhaust manifold near the battery, the battery tray is mounted on top of the frame rail, right next to the right cylinder head, this isn't a cadillac flathead V8 by any means, there's no exhaust manifolds on top that caddy flathead V8 are engineered with, the waterpump in the picture is too high for a caddy, the caddy wouldn't have the generator mounted that high, like the ford engine would. so, 1) exhaust manifolds down under the block, 2) waterpump too high for caddy, and 3) generator too high for caddy. only the ford type flatheads V8's ran the exhaust through the block to the underside. it's a ford, not cadillac, charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.

Neat coincidence, jusr saw this today, a period picture of another cool rod, still a 4banger. It had an Almquist finned aluminum flat head, 2 Stromberg 97's, and get the clever adaptation of an early V8 distributor, running off a vertical shaft from the cam just where the Model A or B distributor had been. No "traffic violation" marker here, no windshield!

In the rear, a romantic couple in a groovy '37 Buick convertible, sporting dual sidemounts, fogs, and a spotlight. The '35 Ford coupe has some upgrades, note the cowl side antenna and, golly, it has a '41 Ford bumper on the front too. Oops, one headlight lens gone.

I stand corrected. After looking at the picture again and closer, the motor is a first generation Ford V8 (32 - 36 21 head studs) with the water pumps up high at the front of the heads.
