SIPLOWGUY
My engine code on my 66 Cutlass is W21G725L. I have a red air cleaner. Is this the high compression engine?
rocketraider
In 1966, W with an L suffix indicates a 9.0:1 compression 4-barrel 330 engine in F85/Cutlass.So, no, you do not have the HC engine for that year (10.25:1 G suffix) but 9:1 will be easier to live with and feed. The 10.25 "Ultra High Compression" engines meant what they said about "premium fuel only".I'm not 100% positive, but I think all 4-barrel 330 engines in Cutlass got red aircleaners that year. SIPLOWGUY
I've also seen black air cleaners.
